Activism and Democracy

I have always been a political animal. The natural curiosity with which I am endowed has always allowed me, and still allows me, to understand and embrace a complex and multifaceted reality and, as a result, to encounter from a non-judgmental place the positions and views of even opponents and opponents.

My many years of involvement in culture, art, and rabbinate have sharpened my ability to compassionately observe every person and every situation.

My daily practice of mediation and conflict resolution and the connection between all of my worlds of practice allow me to create a natural partnership even with those who are perceived as illegitimate, unconversable, and to discover angles that enable dialogue and change.

  • Activism is the action of individuals organizing together to bring about fundamental change in society.

Activist movements are characterized by informal and flexible organizational structures (grassroots).

The activist integrates into ideological organizations to advance immediate goals and moves from one organization to another, without restraints or barriers.

Activist movements act as opposition to the state and the establishment, often in an attempt to present an independent position against the dominant political center.

Activists operate within the cultural climate of late capitalism in order to confront the cynical atmosphere of post-industrial and postmodern society.

    From the Encyclopedia of Ideas

  • Children of the Time / Wisława Szymborska
We are the children of the attack,
    The attack is political.

    All daily tasks
    Or your nights, ours, yours
    They are political acts.

Whether you like it or not,
For those of you who have a political past,
    To hide a political color,
For the eyes, a political aspect.

    Either way
All your words are a whisper,
    All your silences are heard.
    Politicians.

Even if you are caught in the thicket of the forest
You are marching on political marches.
    On a political scale.

    Even non-political poems are political,
And from above, the moon shines,
    This is a non-lunar mass.
To be or not to be, that is the question.
What a question, my friend. Sit back and relax.
    A political question.

You don't have to be human.
To be a husband of political significance.
That's how you get crude oil,
    Concentrated soap, recycled raw material.

Or even a Shulchan Yeshivas, in whose image
    Long months passed:
What is the reason for the Shulchan to be taken away?
On the waves of life and death, round or square.

    Among us, people were killed,
    Dead animals,
    Houses went up in flames
    And fields grew wild.
    As in previous periods
    Political parties.
